Hello and welcome to my Newsletter. Allow me to introduce myself and explain what this newsletter is all about.
My name is Madhusudhan Anand and I am from Bangalore, India. In the picture above wearing a grey shirt on the right is my Dad, my biggest inspiration. This picture represents a big moment in my life and something I cherish.
Growing up was fun and tough at the same time as me and my parents kept shifting between many small cities within Karnataka. And due to this, I met a lot of struggling, creative and colorful people, made great friends, had a diverse cultural mixture of learnings between an urban and a rural setting. Hence, I learnt humility, I have become more of a go-giver, become self-honest, a proud executionist, creative, problem-solving and sometimes an emotional guy. I have pursued this into mainly 4 most passionate things
1. Building Products - As CTO, Product head, Engineering manager, software engineer, Data Scientist and 16+ years of career in product companies, my core domain strength is to convert an idea into a product that makes revenue. As Co-Founder of Ambee, this is my core responsibility and I love it. Ambee is an environmental intelligence platform for the health of the world.
2. Teaching & Self-Learning - I have delivered over 100+ courses in the past 6 years and I may have trained over 3000 programmers and data scientists worldwide. I have also interviewed more than 1500 developers for various large enterprises and startups. That is how I could gauge the gaps between a student/applicant and an employer. Teaching was a necessity some time ago when I took the plunge into entrepreneurship and it was my main source of income and kept the mill running. But little did I knew that I'd discover my love for teaching and also being very good at it naturally.
3. Problem Solving - I started my career troubleshooting RAID, Servers & OS. Then writing very little code and at all times I was presented with problems. I see everything optimistically as a problem that could be solved and I try to see it from different angles. This has helped me immensely and also has been the primary source of many products we have today at Ambee.
4. Writing - I used to write comics in school, made everyone laugh. I wrote poems later, a few diaries and journals as notes to self in the pre-blogging era. Wrote 150+ blogs on e-blogger, wrote content for Dell, wrote documentation for ISO-2001, wrote release notes, wrote product documentation, and wrote a lot of presentations, whitepapers, case studies. I also consume a lot of content. My Audible shows 200+ hours in 2019 alone, and about 300 in 2020 so far as the year draws to a close and I may be reading about 14 books a year. It has come to that that its not how many I read, its how many I could apply. It is now inevitable obvious that I am a passionate writer. One way to apply the learning from all those great books is to write and also to implement.
This newsletter is a subset from the blog maddyanand.com. Dedicating this to my late father who taught me to share knowledge as creating value tool as an individual.
